New videos of Lavry’s music

Newsletter from August 26, 2024:

We would like to share some exciting moments we experienced recently, despite the difficult times.

In the last few days we added video recordings of performances of two of Marc Lavry’s compositions. They were recently recorded and videotaped as part of the Year of Marc Lavry 2023-2024.

Jewish Suite for String Orchestra Opus 17, composed in 1929, during Lavry’s European Period, before he developed his Israeli style. It premiered in Berlin in 1936 and was most recently performed in January 2024 by the Tel Aviv Ensemble Soloists conducted by Barak Tal.

Capriccio in the Sun for Orchestra Opus 349, was Lavry’s last orchestral composition. The hand written manuscript remained on his piano at the time of his death and was never performed. The video is of the world premiere of the Capriccio — 57 years after its composition, performed by the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion, conducted by Daniel Raiskin, in July 2024.
