Like all young men in Russia, Marc Lavry was enlisted to the army.
Lavry, did not want to serve in the military, but wanted much less to be labeled as a “Draft Dodger Jew”. (To join he even hid an injury from when he was 12 that nearly caused his arm to be amputated.)
Lavry served briefly as an officer in the Russian cavalry. With the exception of two photos that we found, we have very little information about his military service.
