Synopsis: Yitzhak Shalev wrote the lyrics and invited Marc Lavry to compose the music for Student’s Day at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 1956. It remained the students’ anthem for many years.

The song compares the student to an overworked mule. In the melody Lavry, who was known for his sense of humor, added a mule’s bray.
The lyrics were typed a stencil page (for production on a mimeograph) as part of a booklet “Songs for Students at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem”. The page also states that the song “was sung in the late fifties”.
