Note: Chikiti La’isha was originally written for Soprano and Piano. As he often did, Lavry composed an arrangement for Soprano and orchestral accompaniment for his recording with singer Netania Davrath.

Synopsis:
Hikiti La’isha (I waited for the woman) is one of the many songs Marc Lavry composed to lyrics by Rafael Eliaz. The first song he wrote after immigrating to Israel was the popular Shir Ha-Emek to Eliaz’s lyrics. The song Hikiti La’isha was the last one they wrote together.

The subject matter, rhythm and flow of the text inspired Lavry to write the song as Tango (and this is how he marked it in his opus book.)
