Synopsis: The composition Two Preludes for String Orchestra was written for the Riga Jewish Theater as an introduction to a play. We do not have a record of the name of the play.
In 1936, after immigrating to Israel, Lavry orchestrated the first prelude for a symphonic orchestra for a concert by The Palestine Broadcasting Service Orchestra.

For research purposes: On the sheet music Lavry indicated that the composition was composed in 1934. However, in his opus book he documented a performance in Riga in 1931. We believe that the composition was indeed written and originally performed in 1931. However, Lavry later copied the sheet music and must have mistakenly written the composition date as 1934.
