Synopsis: The composition was written before the establishment of the State of Israel, which at that time was called Palestine. Hence the name — Palestinian Dance. The dance, which Lavry would have probably called “Hora” in later years, was written for Klari Szarvas-Patki, the harpist of the Palestine Symphony Orchestra (later the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra). Marc and Helena Lavry were close friends with Szarvas-Patki, and Lavry composed a number of compositions for her.
